LUMKO Hall

Ekukhuruleni, South Africa

The Hall is the proposed first phase of the redevelopment of the LUMKO campus. The multipurpose facility will seat some 350 people, in various configurations, with an overlooking gallery.

A deep entrance veranda leads to a double volume entrance space with a large north facing clerestory window.

The building is faced with rough clay brick, patterned on the entrance facade, which has a triangular tower as a focus of the entrance avenue.

The north facing roof is shaped to hold a field of solar panels as well as act as a rain water collector.
