The new family home sits on a rocky north facing slope surrounded by tropical woodland. The home is approached from the rear and  is placed on the edge of the steep slope. The plan form is linear, a single space wide to maximise both views and cross ventilation.

Block walls 450 mm thick allow doors to slide away into the walls and provide substantial thermal mass to protect against the tropical sun. The simple shed roof with deep overhangs provide shade to complement the  thick walls.

Structural steel framing is used to complement the masonry structure where necessary.
